Weekend Recap

Hi everyone!

I’ve finally recuperated from my hectic, yet short, weekend in Ohio/Michigan.  And, I have lots to share with you!

{d&k} had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner (one day early).  We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Spaghetti Warehouse.  I think everyone had the same idea as us because it was busy!  But, we didn’t mind.  The food was yummy and the company was even better.

Look how handsome my date is 🙂

Love this place!

Yum! Too bad I filled up on bread and had to take the majority of this home as leftovers. But, the nice this is I got to enjoy for 2 days instead of one.

Valentine’s Day pug love. What could be cuter?!

On Valentine’s Day, K dropped me off at the airport to fly back to Michigan. He basically kicked me out for the weekend. At least, that’s what I told him. He was sad to see me go, but he is the one that got the bestest and me tickets for MB20. So, like I said, he kicked me out for the weekend.

Friday was a busy, busy day. I did manage to sneak in a quick lunch with B, which was unexpected and fantastic! And, I stopped by my cousin’s house to check out all of her old baby items. She said she needed to clean out her basement and I could take what I wanted. Wahoo! So, I loaded up my sister’s car with a car seat and base, high chair, some toys, and 2 huge bins of clothes. I left the car seat, high chair, and toys with my parents. Those will be one less thing we have to travel with. I then had to figure out how to get all the clothes home. I knew I would be bringing some clothes back, so I packed a large suitcase that had plenty of extra room. What I didn’t know is how many clothes I would be getting. So, I decided to buy another checked bag and borrow my parents large suitcase. By the time I left, both suitcases were jam-packed, both weighing in at just under 40 pounds. Whoa, that was close. But now, Mini Mullan’s closet is stocked!!

The loot! Thanks, cousin!!

Mini Mullan’s closet. This isn’t including the full dresser! Seriously, I have the best cousin evah!

Friday night, bestest picked me up for our date and we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner (what else would we have eaten?!) then went on to the concert. MB20 was amazing! We’ve been to so many of these shows together, our first being back in 1996. Rob Thomas made a few comments about coming to Toledo since 1996 and then he said that they’ve been touring for 17 years. I did the math and holy cow, we are old! We’ve been going to MB20 shows together for 17 years. Holy cow. Now, tell me who the true fans are!!

IMG_2374
Woohooo, let the fun begin! We had awesome seats…thanks K!

IMG_2379
Sorry that it’s fuzzy…it was dark and from my phone camera. But, look how happy we are!

IMG_2403
Bestest took much better photos with her camera. I will steal them for you guys. But, you get the point!

On Saturday, I had lunch with my parents (yep, you guessed it, Mexican!) and then spent the rest of the day hanging out with family. Then, we had a great dinner with the whole family and my grandparents. I tried to stay up past 9pm, but I was exhausted. Baby shopping and a concert really wear a pregnant girl out, haha. Then, sadly, I was up at 6am to head back to the airport. It was a super short but fantastic weekend. Thanks for kicking me out, K!

And, in 2 weeks, we’ll be back in Ohio/Michigan for our baby shower! We will be there for a few more days, so we will be able to spend more time with everyone. We can’t wait!

So, that was my busy weekend. How was yours?

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Christmas in the South

How’d you like our news from yesterday?!  Pretty crazy, huh?!  Yep, we are still shocked and it doesn’t quite seem real yet.  I’ll fill you in more in an upcoming post.

It’s Christmas time!  Yippee!!

However, it’s very weird celebrating it here in the South.  It’s warm.  Really warm.  We were decorating our Christmas tree in 80 degree weather, while wearing shorts and tank tops.  Weird.  We had the windows open!

IMG_2166

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to that.  But, I will take this weather over the cold Ohio weather any day.  And, we’ll be traveling back to Ohio after Christmas so we’ll get our fill of cold, possibly snowy, weather then.  And, that’s enough for me.

On Sunday night, we went to SMUs tree lighting ceremony and that was weird, too.  It was still 80 degrees.  People were walking around in tank tops and shorts.  And, if that’s not weird enough, we were singing carols like that.  In tank tops!  Haha.  That’s the weird part.

After the tree lighting, we went out to dinner and sat outside on the patio.  On December 2!  Haha, it still is amazing to me.

Although, none of this is as weird as the November we went to visit T in Phoenix and the cacti were decorated for Christmas.  That was strange.  And, it was still 90 degrees.

But, I guess it doesn’t matter where you are or what the weather is like…it’s still Christmas!  And, that makes me very happy.  We have the inside of our house decorated, trees up, and now we are just waiting for a free evening to decorate the outside of the house.  That’s k’s job.  I hate lights!

How about you?  Are you ready for the holidays?

I also added the cutest little reindeer family to our Christmas decorations:

Aren’t they so sweet!?  I broke down at bought them at the bazaar on Saturday.

Speaking of the bazaar…
I had a great day and my shop did very well!!  I was hoping to at least break even!  I had no idea I would sell so many things and sell out of boot cuffs within the first hour and a half!  Now, if I get in next year, I know what to stock up on.  And, hopefully I will have more than 2 weeks to fill my booth.  Here’s how I decorated my booth:

It turned out much cuter than I imagined.  And those little banners…I made those out of burlap and I just stenciled the letters on there.  How cute!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Yay for Christmas!!

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Nothing exciting over here

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I’m sad to report that there is absolutely nothing exciting happening over here.  Nothing.  Nada.

This has been a very boring week for the blog.  I don’t really think you want to hear about my trip to the grocery store last night and how I saved $75 and bought enough food to cook dinner for 30 days, do you?!  I didn’t think so.  So, like I said, boring.

We don’t even have any exciting plans for the weekend, yet.  There is still time.  I do know that I will be using my new electric sander on a few projects around the house.  And, that also means a trip to my favorite store, Home Depot, to buy paint.  And, we will take a trip to the dog park, like we always do.  And, our pool closes on Labor Day, so we HAVE to go and soak up as much sun as we can before it closes.  So, I think it sounds like I pretty fantastic weekend…but, not really blog-worthy.  Sorry.  I’ve got nothing.

I will post pictures of my projects, before and after.  I will probably also post pictures of the zoo, because, let’s face it, that’s why you guys keep coming back here.  For the cute squishy faces of the zoo.  It’s okay.  I understand.

Ooh, I forgot.  We are going to Hobby Lobby this weekend too.  Eep.  Another one of my favorite stores!  I’m organizing and rearranging my office/craft room this weekend and I am in desperate need of new yarn (those two are unrelated but both reasons why I’m going to Hobby Lobby.  I just thought I should let you know that I’m not organizing my office with yarn.  Carry on).  I have about 1,238 friends/family that are preggo right now and I am a baby blanket making machine.  Watch out!

I’ll post pictures of the blankets as I finish.  I’m also adding them to my Etsy shop, so keep your eyes out for those!

So, my weekend is looking more exciting for me…probably not for you.  Sorry to bore you all.

I’ll try to come up with something clever and witty for tomorrow’s post.  Don’t hold your breath.

Enjoy your day & do something exciting for me,
{d&k}

Thank You!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!  I had a wonderful birthday in Ohio, with friends and family.  And cake.  I had lots of cake.

{d&k} got into Ohio on Wednesday night and were greeted at the airport by k’s parents.  Then, we went to dinner at our favorite Ohio Mexican restaurant {yum}.  On Thursday, {d&k} ran errands, had lunch with friends, and then went to d’s parents for dinner and homemade birthday oreo cookies {yum}.  On Friday, {d&k} ran more errands (it’s amazing how much you have to do when you go home for a visit) and d got to take a birthday nap before meeting friends out for dinner and drinks.  Saturday d was coordinating a wedding all day and k got to spend the day with his parents, which included a trip to the Garrett Ranch to visit my parents and the mini donkeys.  Sunday, {d&k} went out for a birthday lunch with d’s parents, then to visit friends, and finished off their stay in Ohio with dinner at k’s parent’s house.  We had a jam-packed, fun-filled birthday weekend!  For those of you that I was able to visit with, I’m so happy we did!  For those of you that I didn’t get a chance to see, we’ll be back for Christmas…hopefully we can squeeze in something then.

I was a bad birthday blogger.  I managed to snap 3 pictures.  That’s it.  Sad.  Pitiful.  I’ll be better next year.

KT made me a birthday cake! Thanks, KT!  And, I can’t stop eating it.  Must.stop.eating.cake.  It was not my plan to gain 30 pounds on my 30th birthday.  But at this rate, that’s what it’s looking like.

{d&k} at d’s birthday dinner.

k bought d an electric sander for her birthday. Best. present. evah! Thanks, k! And for any one else, if you ever have to get me a gift, tools are always a good idea. Always. Watch out Bob Vila.

Now, it’s back to the real world.  Back to work.  Back to taking care of the dogs.  Back to eating healthy (oof, birthday weekends are full of bad food and cake.  Lots of cake).

And, I get to start on all my projects that have required an electric sander.   Like…refinishing my dining room table, 2 bedroom side tables (they NEED to be turquoise), and I’m sure I can find more.  Anyone need anything refinished or painted?  Bring it on over!

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

And now it’s gone

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes!  {d&k} had a great time last night.  K took d out to dinner at their favorite restaurant, Spaghetti Warehouse.  We’ve been there every year on our anniversary.  We don’t eat pasta all that often, so when we do it should be a splurge for a special occasion.  And trust me, we ate last night!  Oof.

After dinner we wandered around downtown Dallas for a bit, realizing it is still too hot here for an evening stroll.  When we got home, we loaded the couch up with the pups and cuddled in for a tv show and wine.  It was a pretty wonderful anniversary, if I do say so myself.

And now, just like that, it’s over.  Back to normal.  Another wonderful year of being married ahead of us.

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

K’s Keepers, Vol. 2

It’s that time again…
Time to share another recipe k loves!

This week’s recipe:

Fiesta Chicken (k said, “So it’s party chicken?”  Yes, k it is.  It’s like a little party in your mouth.  Enjoy.  This may be one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever made).

Ok, back to the recipe…

Fiesta Chicken
(Serves 4)

4 Chicken Breasts
1 Can Fat Free Cream of Chicken Soup
1 Can Mexicorn, drained (corn with peppers)
1 Can Black Beans, drained
1 c. Salsa
2 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning
2 c. Cooked Rice
Cheese to top

1 – Place chicken breast in bottom of slow cooker.  Top with soup.

2- Add mexicorn black beans, salsa, and taco seasoning and stir lightly.  (It will not look very appetizing at this point.  It slightly resembles cat food.  But trust me, it’s delicious!)

3 – Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or high 3-4 hours.

4 – When ready to serve, stir in cooked rice.  Top with cheese.

* I made a few adjustments to this recipe, but I wanted to give you the original also.  Instead of cooked rice, I used uncooked Spanish rice.  I set the crock pot to high for 3 hours, then added the uncooked rice, and then turned the crock pot to low for another 3 hours.  I did this because there was a lot of liquid in the crock pot and I was worried the rice wouldn’t soak it up and I didn’t want this dish to be soupy.  It turned out great and I’m glad I added the uncooked rice.

Cranberry Margaritas
(Serves 4)

1/2 c. Cranberry Juice
1/2 c. Tequila
1/4 c. Triple Sec
1/4 c. Lime Juice

1 – Mix all ingredients together and serve over ice.  Enjoy!!

Let me know what you think about the Party-In-Your-Mouth Chicken and Cranberry Margaritas.  I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

Enjoy your dinner!
