Baby Shower

Holy cow, the Ohio baby shower is over!  Sniff.  It seemed like so long ago that the girls (S&B) and I started planning it.  And now it’s over 😦  It was absolutely amazing and S&B did an awesome job.  Plus, {d&k} were able to see so many friends and family members that we normally aren’t able to see in our short trips home.  It was fantastic getting to catch up and visit with everyone.  It turned out to be a super emotional day for me, and I was not expecting that at all.  You’re probably laughing right now because, of course I was emotional.  What 7 month preggo lady wouldn’t be?!  Anyways, it was so sweet how many of our friends and family came out to celebrate Mini Mullan with us and just to visit with us.  It truly meant a lot to us.  And, that’s what made me emotional, thankyouverymuch.

I just wanted to post a few, okay a lot, of photos from the shower and show you how adorable S&B made it.  They did such a great job and we had a blast.  The next day, we were all a little exhausted, but I’d say it was worth it.
Here are the three mamas…B, D, & S. After we took this photo, we laughed that we automatically lined ourselves up in height and preggo order. Haha. We’re good like that.

Holy cow…we are going to be parents! Seriously, how handsome is K in that bow tie?!?! Love him!

I couldn’t resist posting this photo. K is holding our cousin, Ashton, trying to mimic his face. Too funny!

The FOOD! The girls made everything. It was soooo good. I’m still thinking about that buffalo chicken dip, S. And, we had a Make-Your-Own-Cupcake bar. Yes, that’s correct. It was delicious. Can you tell that 3 preggos planned this shower?!

The Decorate-A-Onesie station. What a huge hit! And, the onesies turned out awesome!

Here are some of the finished onesies. See, aren’t they adorable?!

We also had a Decorate-A-Diaper station where you could leave {d&k} messages, words of encouragement, or just something funny on a diaper for those lovely late night changings…

Onesie cookie favors. They were not only cute, but delicious! Yum!

We asked our friends and family to fill in the blank on our Well Wishes cards. Some were funny, some made me cry, but they were all very sweet! I can’t wait to make a little book for Mini Mullan filled with these so she can see how special her friends and family thinks she is. Such a fun idea!

How fun was our shower?!  We had a blast and again, I cannot thank S&B enough.  You girls rock and I’m so, so lucky to call you my best friends!  I’m glad we are all in this together.  And, I can’t wait to see you in November where we will have 5 little ones between us.  It is going to be such madness.  Fun.  Madness.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day,

I’m Baaaack!!

Ok, sorry for the long hiatus.  I took a lot more time off from blogging than I anticipated.  But sadly, I don’t have that much to tell you about.  Man, my life is boring right now.  That’s not a bad thing.  I mean, I’ll gladly take the calm before the storm in the next three months.  Yep, that’s right.  Mini Mullan will be making her appearance within the next three months.  Holy cow.  How can this be?!  I did think this whole pregnancy thing was going by quickly.  I’m sure the next three months will seem to drag on.  However, the month of April is jam-packed for {d&k}, so that should fly by…right?!  We’ll see.  If you suddenly start seeing panicky posts in about a month, you’ll know April flew by.

Oh, a quick thank you to all of our loyal followers that kindly reminded me that the blog was getting dusty.  It’s nice to see you are all so interested in {d&k}s lives 🙂  Seriously, though…we do really appreciate that you are following us and want to know what we are up to.  So, thank you!!

Alright…what have {d&k} been up to since returning from Ohio/Michigan?!  Well, nothing really.  I’ve been sick.  Some sort of cold/sinus ick that I can’t seem to get rid of.  It’s making breathing through my nose very difficult.  I sound like Oskar the pug when he’s snoring.  Lovely.  People don’t stand as close to me anymore.  Which, I am okay with.  This germaphobe does not need anyone standing close to her.  K has been super busy with work.  It just clicked for him that the baby will be here in three months and that he should be setting up some of his coworkers as backups for all of his upcoming projects, just in case.  This made him a little twitchy last week.  Haha.  We’ll see what happens with that.  The zoo is doing great.  They smell.  All of them.  Good thing I scheduled a spa day for them next week.  I love when they come home all fluffy!  Normally I give them baths (the pugs in the bath tub and Uma outside in her baby pool), however, it is getting much more difficult for me to bend over, let alone lean over a bath tub.  So, off to the vet they go.  Plus, they have fancier shampoo 🙂  The weather here has been amazing.  It’s been in the 70s the last week.  It is supposed to cool off this weekend and drop into the high 50s and continue on into next week like that.  But, I can’t complain. Especially spending a week in Ohio & Michigan’s weather.  Brrrr.  My skin has definitely thinned out from living here.  I can’t do the cold anymore!

And, that’s us as of late.  Nothing exciting.  I’m hoping that I can have something better for you in the next few days.  Maybe something exciting will pop up?  Don’t count on it.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day,

Fun Weekend Ahead!

{d&k} have a fun weekend ahead, filled with 2 friends coming to visit.  And, they don’t even know each other, haha. Their schedules do not overlap at all, which is very funny, so they won’t see or meet each other.  But, it will keep us on our toes!

So, blog posting will be a little slow until next week.  But, I will try to be better about taking photos of everything we do.

And, next week, we leave for Ohio/Michigan for a week, so blog posting will be slow then too.  Sorry.  But, when I return, I will have LOTS to tell you about!

Until then, here’s a cute photo:

Poor Uma.  She puts up with so much.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Weekend Recap

Hi everyone!

I’ve finally recuperated from my hectic, yet short, weekend in Ohio/Michigan.  And, I have lots to share with you!

{d&k} had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner (one day early).  We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Spaghetti Warehouse.  I think everyone had the same idea as us because it was busy!  But, we didn’t mind.  The food was yummy and the company was even better.

Look how handsome my date is 🙂

Love this place!

Yum! Too bad I filled up on bread and had to take the majority of this home as leftovers. But, the nice this is I got to enjoy for 2 days instead of one.

Valentine’s Day pug love. What could be cuter?!

On Valentine’s Day, K dropped me off at the airport to fly back to Michigan. He basically kicked me out for the weekend. At least, that’s what I told him. He was sad to see me go, but he is the one that got the bestest and me tickets for MB20. So, like I said, he kicked me out for the weekend.

Friday was a busy, busy day. I did manage to sneak in a quick lunch with B, which was unexpected and fantastic! And, I stopped by my cousin’s house to check out all of her old baby items. She said she needed to clean out her basement and I could take what I wanted. Wahoo! So, I loaded up my sister’s car with a car seat and base, high chair, some toys, and 2 huge bins of clothes. I left the car seat, high chair, and toys with my parents. Those will be one less thing we have to travel with. I then had to figure out how to get all the clothes home. I knew I would be bringing some clothes back, so I packed a large suitcase that had plenty of extra room. What I didn’t know is how many clothes I would be getting. So, I decided to buy another checked bag and borrow my parents large suitcase. By the time I left, both suitcases were jam-packed, both weighing in at just under 40 pounds. Whoa, that was close. But now, Mini Mullan’s closet is stocked!!

The loot! Thanks, cousin!!

Mini Mullan’s closet. This isn’t including the full dresser! Seriously, I have the best cousin evah!

Friday night, bestest picked me up for our date and we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner (what else would we have eaten?!) then went on to the concert. MB20 was amazing! We’ve been to so many of these shows together, our first being back in 1996. Rob Thomas made a few comments about coming to Toledo since 1996 and then he said that they’ve been touring for 17 years. I did the math and holy cow, we are old! We’ve been going to MB20 shows together for 17 years. Holy cow. Now, tell me who the true fans are!!

Woohooo, let the fun begin! We had awesome seats…thanks K!

Sorry that it’s fuzzy…it was dark and from my phone camera. But, look how happy we are!

Bestest took much better photos with her camera. I will steal them for you guys. But, you get the point!

On Saturday, I had lunch with my parents (yep, you guessed it, Mexican!) and then spent the rest of the day hanging out with family. Then, we had a great dinner with the whole family and my grandparents. I tried to stay up past 9pm, but I was exhausted. Baby shopping and a concert really wear a pregnant girl out, haha. Then, sadly, I was up at 6am to head back to the airport. It was a super short but fantastic weekend. Thanks for kicking me out, K!

And, in 2 weeks, we’ll be back in Ohio/Michigan for our baby shower! We will be there for a few more days, so we will be able to spend more time with everyone. We can’t wait!

So, that was my busy weekend. How was yours?

Enjoy your day,

Weekend recovery

Hi friends!

How was your weekend?

K was out-of-town for work, so it was just the zoo and me.  And, I had the privilege of coordinating another beautiful wedding here in Dallas on Saturday.  The bride and groom were wonderful and we all had a fantastic time.  However, I am still recovering from it.  This preggo can’t quite recover from 13 hours on her feet like she used to. (And 13 hours is a short wedding day).  Normally, I’d sleep in the Sunday after a wedding (and by sleep in, I mean like 8 or 9) and then I’d be good to go.  Well, I slept in until 8, then had to pick up the pups from the dog sitter, pick up K from the airport, and run a few errands.  I did take a small nap that afternoon, but it wasn’t the same.  It did not help.  So, I spent all day yesterday moping around, exhausted.  But, I think I may be back to my normal self today.  It’s still too early to tell.  Haha.

And, that was the extent of our weekend here.  K had a great trip and just as he’s back, I’m leaving this weekend.  Yep, that’s right.  I’m heading to Ohio/Michigan for a quick trip.  K got the bestest and me Matchbox Twenty tickets for Christmas and, since they are our favorite band, we are pumped to see them (again.  for like the 12th time.  but who’s counting.  I mean, come on…it’s Rob Thomas!  Eep).

I have a ton of things to do this week…including tracking down some sort of shirt that fits me.  Maternity clothes are so ugly.  Anyone else agree?  Seriously.  Why do these designers want us to look fat AND ugly?  I don’t get it.  And, since I’ve held off this long on buying any maternity shirts, my shirts are slowly getting too short and I have begun flashing everyone as I walk.  Or get up.  Or move in any slight way.  So, I’m on the hunt for something cute and cheap.  I am a bargain shopper.  I do not spend a lot of money on clothes.  I like my sale racks.  So, I refuse to spend $30 or more on an ugly maternity shirt that I am only going to wear for 4 more months.  Hrmph.

Wow, this post has turned very random.  Sorry about that.  It’s just been so long since I’ve posted and I, apparently, have a lot to say.

So, my to-do list for this week consists of:
spending time with K before I leave him this weekend
finding something decent to wear out of the house (yoga pants and K’s sweat shirts are only acceptable IN the house)
packing (which is going to be difficult since it is cold in Ohio and 70* here, and I don’t have a winter coat that fits)
and, there is a whole lot more, but these are the main things — wish me luck!

And, K and I are celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow (Yay!) with a nice dinner out to one of our favorite restaurants, Spaghetti Warehouse.  I cannot wait.  I love carbs even more now that I’m pregnant.  Yay carbs!  Nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” like carbs.  And candy.  K, did you hear that.  Candy.  No flowers.  I can’t eat flowers.

Well, I hope you are all having a lovely week.  And, I hope that you have all recovered nicely from the weekend!

Enjoy your day,

Yay! Another Countdown!!

{d&k} have so many fun things coming up to look forward to.  So, I thought it was appropriate for another countdown!!

11 Days until Tara (one of my bestests) will visit the Big D

30 Days until I’m back in Ohio to see the oh-so-beautiful Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20 with Sara (eep!)

41 Days until {d&k} are back in Ohio/Michigan for our bestests to throw Mini Mullan a baby shower (eep!)

And…are you ready for this…

140 Days until Mini Mullan graces us with her presence (eep!  panic!  eep!)

Wow, that’s a lot to look forward to!  I’d say, just based on that, 2013 is going to be a fantastic year!

Thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy your day,

Hello there, 2013!

Happy, happy 2013, everyone!  {d&k} hope you had a fabulous new year and a very happy holiday.

Has everyone jumped back into the swing of things?  {d&k} are back to work and getting back into the flow of our routine.  It was nice being off over the holidays, but I miss knowing what day of the week it is.  Haha.

We had a great trip back to Ohio & Michigan and are so happy we were able to spend time with family and friends, even if it was only for an hour or two.  It’s hard fitting in everyone.  Plus, we only had time for a short visit.  Hopefully the next time we are back in town we can spend more time with our loved ones.  As for now, it’s back to phone calls, emails, and FaceTime 🙂

Now that {d&k} are back, we have a lot to share with you.  Including some very exciting news we’re posting tomorrow.  Stay tuned.  Plus, I have a few photos from our trip that I will be posting soon.

Again, {d&k} want to wish you all a very happy new year.  We hope 2013 is more than what you hope it will be!!

Enjoy your day,

I think it’s time for another countdown!

Yes, that’s right.  It has been way too long since our last countdown.  Here is what {d&k} are looking forward to:

12 days until Christmas (I feel a song coming on)

13 days until we are back in Ohio/Michigan to visit with family and friends (I’m sure I can think of a song for this too)

And, that’s it.  Now it seems pretty uneventful.  Only two things made the countdown.  Now, I could have given you our schedule of events while we are in Ohio and Michigan but I think that’s probably more information that you’re here looking for.  Am I right?!  So, we’ll leave it at that pitiful little countdown.

But yay for only 12 days until Christmas!  Seriously, where has the time gone?  Thankfully I’m finished with my Christmas shopping.  Now, all we have left is to ship a few things off.  Ooh, and make Christmas cookies.  That’s this weekends project.  Get excited for pictures.  And pack.  We’ll have to pack sometime soon.  But, then we are done and we get to enjoy our first Christmas together as a family (of 3, sort of).  Yay! We have a few Christmas traditions we’ve started over the years and I’m excited to add to those.  Yay for Christmas!

Yay for Christmas!!

Enjoy your day,

Wth, Texas, Wth?!?

What the heck, Texas!?!  I’m mad at you.  You know why.  Because it is cold here (really, really cold) and it snowed yesterday!  SNOWED.  In Texas.  Before it snowed in Ohio.  Wth?!

I have only been gone a year….I’m not ready for snow yet.  I know I’ll see some when I’m back in Ohio for Christmas, but I was not prepared for it yesterday.

Yesterday morning I got up to let the pups out, only to find snow covering my car windshield, the roof of the house and shed and enough on the ground to hide the ugly brown grass.  Wth?!  I ran back into the bedroom to wake up k and tell him.  He growled and when back to bed.  Later, when he woke up and looked outside he said, “Hey, it snowed!”  Apparently the growl was not for the snow, but for me waking him up.  Haha, oops.

Thankfully the snow had melted by 9am and everything was back to normal.  Or was it, Texas?!  Nope.  It was still cold.  I can’t handle this cold weather.  That’s one of the reasons I moved to TEXAS!

But, I can’t be upset with you for too long, Texas.  You promised it would be in the 70s this weekend and I’m holding you to that.  I have antsy dogs that need walked and none of us are venturing out for a walk in this weather.

So, get it together, Texas.  I mean it!

Enjoy your day and your weather,

Christmas in the South

How’d you like our news from yesterday?!  Pretty crazy, huh?!  Yep, we are still shocked and it doesn’t quite seem real yet.  I’ll fill you in more in an upcoming post.

It’s Christmas time!  Yippee!!

However, it’s very weird celebrating it here in the South.  It’s warm.  Really warm.  We were decorating our Christmas tree in 80 degree weather, while wearing shorts and tank tops.  Weird.  We had the windows open!

I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to that.  But, I will take this weather over the cold Ohio weather any day.  And, we’ll be traveling back to Ohio after Christmas so we’ll get our fill of cold, possibly snowy, weather then.  And, that’s enough for me.

On Sunday night, we went to SMUs tree lighting ceremony and that was weird, too.  It was still 80 degrees.  People were walking around in tank tops and shorts.  And, if that’s not weird enough, we were singing carols like that.  In tank tops!  Haha.  That’s the weird part.

After the tree lighting, we went out to dinner and sat outside on the patio.  On December 2!  Haha, it still is amazing to me.

Although, none of this is as weird as the November we went to visit T in Phoenix and the cacti were decorated for Christmas.  That was strange.  And, it was still 90 degrees.

But, I guess it doesn’t matter where you are or what the weather is like…it’s still Christmas!  And, that makes me very happy.  We have the inside of our house decorated, trees up, and now we are just waiting for a free evening to decorate the outside of the house.  That’s k’s job.  I hate lights!

How about you?  Are you ready for the holidays?

I also added the cutest little reindeer family to our Christmas decorations:

Aren’t they so sweet!?  I broke down at bought them at the bazaar on Saturday.

Speaking of the bazaar…
I had a great day and my shop did very well!!  I was hoping to at least break even!  I had no idea I would sell so many things and sell out of boot cuffs within the first hour and a half!  Now, if I get in next year, I know what to stock up on.  And, hopefully I will have more than 2 weeks to fill my booth.  Here’s how I decorated my booth:
IMG_2145   IMG_2144

It turned out much cuter than I imagined.  And those little banners…I made those out of burlap and I just stenciled the letters on there.  How cute!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Yay for Christmas!!

Enjoy your day,
