Hello there, 2013!

Happy, happy 2013, everyone!  {d&k} hope you had a fabulous new year and a very happy holiday.

Has everyone jumped back into the swing of things?  {d&k} are back to work and getting back into the flow of our routine.  It was nice being off over the holidays, but I miss knowing what day of the week it is.  Haha.

We had a great trip back to Ohio & Michigan and are so happy we were able to spend time with family and friends, even if it was only for an hour or two.  It’s hard fitting in everyone.  Plus, we only had time for a short visit.  Hopefully the next time we are back in town we can spend more time with our loved ones.  As for now, it’s back to phone calls, emails, and FaceTime 🙂

Now that {d&k} are back, we have a lot to share with you.  Including some very exciting news we’re posting tomorrow.  Stay tuned.  Plus, I have a few photos from our trip that I will be posting soon.

Again, {d&k} want to wish you all a very happy new year.  We hope 2013 is more than what you hope it will be!!

Enjoy your day,

Random iPhone Photos

Yep, it’s back.  Random photos I have on my phone.  Prepare yourselves.

K made me waffles for breakfast. So good! K might not cook that often, and he usually burns grilled cheese, but he knows his way around the kitchen for breakfast foods. He is the king of waffles and pancakes.

This is a little comparison I did to show how huge dog-cat #2’s paws are compared to my hand.  And, in case you don’t know this, I have HUGE hands.  Wow. And, he liked it so much, he let me hold his hand like that for an hour. I can’t help it my animals love me.

You know you are going to have a rough day when you slide out of your bed while sleeping and just can’t find the strength to get back in. Poor, old, grumpy Oskar.

Apparently Ewoks and nutcrackers come together as one this holiday season.  I think he’s kinda cute.  I might have to find a special place on the mantle for him this year.

And, do you know what I haven’t blogged about recently?!  Inappropriate or Awesome.  Yep, that’s right.  I will be bringing it back.  I’m sure I will find a whole new set of Inappropriate or Awesome this holiday season.  Get ready!

Enjoy your Tuesday,

Mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, OH MY!

So, it’s almost Thanksgiving.

K and I will be spending this Thanksgiving together, just the two of us.  This is a first for us.  Normally, we’d be having at least 3 different delicious meals and feeling very sick by the end of the day.

I’m attempting to cook a turkey this year.  Another first.

It has surprised me how many of my friends haven’t made a turkey either.  We have always gone to Thanksgiving dinner (or in our case, early lunch, late lunch, and dinner) at different relative’s houses and they’ve made the turkey.  I usually just bring a side and dessert.  Well, actually a few desserts.

So this year, I’m doing everything myself.  And I’m terrified.

I’ve never made a turkey before.  I hope I don’t burn it.  And, I hope I cook it all the way through so it’s not frozen.  Ugh.  So much can go wrong.

I’m not worried about anything else.  Just the turkey.  I’ve made everything else before.  Just not the beast.

DW walked me through it last night.  He said, “If I can make a turkey, anyone can.”  Well dad, we’re going to put that theory to test on Thursday.

I’m not going to lie, I’m most excited for day-after-Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches with swiss cheese.  So much, that I have to make a special trip to the store to get the said cheese that I forgot.  Oh, and canned cranberry sauce.  Is that disgusting to anyone else?  I can’t help it.  I love that stuff.  And k won’t eat it, so I get a whole can of cranberry, jello-like goodness to myself.  Hello, fat pants.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving sides?  I am also making a TON of mashed potatoes just so I can have days of leftovers.  Yum.  Again, hello, fat pants.  And fat shirt.  Crap, I hope my shoes fit.

Since it is just the two of us this year for Thanksgiving, we decided to spend Thanksgiving evening volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, cooking dinner for the families that are staying there.  We’ve done this a few times before and we love doing it.  Friends of ours do this every year on Thanksgiving and invited us to join in this year.  We are really excited to give back and share a holiday meal with those who can’t get home to have their own.

So, we have a pretty exciting Thanksgiving coming up!  What are your plans?  Anyone traveling?  If so, safe travels!

Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll be sure to post after-Thanksgiving photos of the burnt frozen beast.

Enjoy your day,

{d&k} Style Easter

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.  {d&k} did!

This was our first holiday together.  Just us.  No running from one family to another.  No stuffing ourselves to the max and then having to do it all over again, 2 hours later.  No leaving early from one house to make it to the next…not too late.  No rushing through family time.  No leaving the pups all day.  No stressing.

I’m not going to lie…It was fantastical!  We slept in (until 9am, people!).  We went to a lovely mass at church.  We came home and made some lunch – quesadillas.  (We decided every holiday must consist of some form of Mexican food).  Then we watched a movie and lounged on the couch the rest of the afternoon.  The pugs were even allowed on the couch for a cuddle, since it was Easter and all.  I made cookies while k played video games.  More lounging.  Then around 7pm, we made dinner together.  After dinner, we watched yet another movie and had more pug cuddles on the couch.  I would say that was one of the best and most relaxing holidays we’ve ever had.  Now, don’t get me wrong…we missed spending time with our families.  But it was very nice to be together for a holiday.  Just {d&k}.  We’ll remember this forever.  Probably because it will never happen again.  But, I highly recommend it at some point in your lives.

How was your Easter?

Enjoy your day,
