Weekend Recap

Hi everyone!

I’ve finally recuperated from my hectic, yet short, weekend in Ohio/Michigan.  And, I have lots to share with you!

{d&k} had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner (one day early).  We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Spaghetti Warehouse.  I think everyone had the same idea as us because it was busy!  But, we didn’t mind.  The food was yummy and the company was even better.

Look how handsome my date is 🙂

Love this place!

Yum! Too bad I filled up on bread and had to take the majority of this home as leftovers. But, the nice this is I got to enjoy for 2 days instead of one.

Valentine’s Day pug love. What could be cuter?!

On Valentine’s Day, K dropped me off at the airport to fly back to Michigan. He basically kicked me out for the weekend. At least, that’s what I told him. He was sad to see me go, but he is the one that got the bestest and me tickets for MB20. So, like I said, he kicked me out for the weekend.

Friday was a busy, busy day. I did manage to sneak in a quick lunch with B, which was unexpected and fantastic! And, I stopped by my cousin’s house to check out all of her old baby items. She said she needed to clean out her basement and I could take what I wanted. Wahoo! So, I loaded up my sister’s car with a car seat and base, high chair, some toys, and 2 huge bins of clothes. I left the car seat, high chair, and toys with my parents. Those will be one less thing we have to travel with. I then had to figure out how to get all the clothes home. I knew I would be bringing some clothes back, so I packed a large suitcase that had plenty of extra room. What I didn’t know is how many clothes I would be getting. So, I decided to buy another checked bag and borrow my parents large suitcase. By the time I left, both suitcases were jam-packed, both weighing in at just under 40 pounds. Whoa, that was close. But now, Mini Mullan’s closet is stocked!!

The loot! Thanks, cousin!!

Mini Mullan’s closet. This isn’t including the full dresser! Seriously, I have the best cousin evah!

Friday night, bestest picked me up for our date and we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner (what else would we have eaten?!) then went on to the concert. MB20 was amazing! We’ve been to so many of these shows together, our first being back in 1996. Rob Thomas made a few comments about coming to Toledo since 1996 and then he said that they’ve been touring for 17 years. I did the math and holy cow, we are old! We’ve been going to MB20 shows together for 17 years. Holy cow. Now, tell me who the true fans are!!

Woohooo, let the fun begin! We had awesome seats…thanks K!

Sorry that it’s fuzzy…it was dark and from my phone camera. But, look how happy we are!

IMG_2403
Bestest took much better photos with her camera. I will steal them for you guys. But, you get the point!

On Saturday, I had lunch with my parents (yep, you guessed it, Mexican!) and then spent the rest of the day hanging out with family. Then, we had a great dinner with the whole family and my grandparents. I tried to stay up past 9pm, but I was exhausted. Baby shopping and a concert really wear a pregnant girl out, haha. Then, sadly, I was up at 6am to head back to the airport. It was a super short but fantastic weekend. Thanks for kicking me out, K!

And, in 2 weeks, we’ll be back in Ohio/Michigan for our baby shower! We will be there for a few more days, so we will be able to spend more time with everyone. We can’t wait!

So, that was my busy weekend. How was yours?

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Hellooooooo, Rob!

The bestest and I are super pumped about the Matchbox Twenty show tonight.  But, mostly to see Rob.  Yay!  It’s been a few years since our last show and we’ve waited long enough.  Thanks again, K, for the tickets!  We owe you!

Since you all can’t be there to watch two preggos act crazy, I thought you could watch a few MB20 videos to see what you’ll be missing.  Enjoy and be very, very jealous 🙂

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Yay! Another Countdown!!

{d&k} have so many fun things coming up to look forward to.  So, I thought it was appropriate for another countdown!!

11 Days until Tara (one of my bestests) will visit the Big D

30 Days until I’m back in Ohio to see the oh-so-beautiful Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20 with Sara (eep!)

41 Days until {d&k} are back in Ohio/Michigan for our bestests to throw Mini Mullan a baby shower (eep!)

And…are you ready for this…

140 Days until Mini Mullan graces us with her presence (eep!  panic!  eep!)

Wow, that’s a lot to look forward to!  I’d say, just based on that, 2013 is going to be a fantastic year!

Thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Our weekend adventures

Well hello there!  How’s everyone’s first week of August going?  Can you believe it is August already?!  Where has the year gone?

We were lucky enough to celebrate the beginning of August with our fantastic friends!  Bestest, her hubby, and little man were in town and we had a great time!  We kept things pretty low-key and spent a lot of time at home, hanging out in the air conditioning, watching the Olympics, and waiting for little man to wake up from his naps.  We also ate some really, really good food and, since we had a 2-year-old with us all weekend, got to act like little kids and get away with it!  It was a pretty awesome weekend.  See for yourself:

We took little man to the pool and to the splash pad. {d&k} had never been to a splash pad before and it was am.az.ing! I didn’t think we would be able to get k to leave. I think he was having more fun than the kids. But, we won’t be able to go back anytime soon because I think that two grown adults hanging out at the splash pad without kiddos qualifies as creepy. Too bad.

We had an adult date night at a fantastic little restaurant called Cane Rosso. I saw it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives a few months ago and knew we had to go. It was delicious. Clearly, from the picture, we couldn’t wait to snap a picture before diving into the pizza. So, this is what you get. A practically licked clean plate. In fact, k may have been licking the plate. Hmmm…

You know that really awkward moment when your husband and your bestest’s hubby start holding hands during dinner? Oh, you’ve never experienced that moment?! I wish we hadn’t either.

We took little man to the aquarium and we all had a blast. I will never get sick of the aquarium! Little man had a good time too. After he looked at an animal for a minute or two, he would yell, “ELSE” letting us know it was time to move on to the next animal. It was pretty funny. So, even though the aquarium was packed, we made it through it record time, thanks to little man keeping us on a tight schedule. We even got to see the penguins during feeding time, which is my favorite thing to see, except for the otters.

We, of course, had to make the usual yummy pit stops. We went to Snuffers (or as bestest calls it, Snuffies – hehe, which I like better) for their awesome cheese fries and burgers. We also went out for ice cream sandwiches and, as you can see from k, they were delicious. I am definitely paying for all the good food we ate this week. It’s a lot harder to move at the gym. Oof.

The zoo loved little man. When Elvis wasn’t trying to jump up and lick little man’s face, he would cuddle with him any chance he got. Oskar would lay outside of his door until he fell asleep at night, and Uma would pace and whine outside his door until he got up in the morning. The cats felt a little indifferent about him. They were fine for a while, until little man pulled Sebastian across the wood floor. By the tail. I think the other cats witnessed that because they hid the rest of the weekend. Even Sebastian would lay on his tail when little man was around. I think they secretly liked the attention.

After little man went back to Ohio, the pugs fell into a sleep coma for 2 days. They are still a little worn out. Trying to lick, cuddle, and keep up with a 2-year-old is hard work!

Well, there you have it. That’s what we did over the weekend with our favorite people. Stayed tuned to see what we have planned for this weekend!

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

{d&k} are baaaaaaaaaack!

Hello friends! {d&k} are back from vacation and can’t wait to share our vacation photos with you! Hang tight…I’ll have them up this week!

We had a great time on vacation. It was much needed. We haven’t had a vacation in about 2 years 😦 We had to cancel our vacation (to Key Largo, aw man!) to fly to Dallas to find a house. I’m not complaining, I just really missed vacation!

We went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We went to Ocracoke Island, which is about a 2.5 hour ferry ride from the main land. We rented a huge house and my parents and siblings were all there. It was so good to get my whole family together, under one roof, for an entire week! That never happens! I had so much fun with my nephews, and I know k did too! Those guys are too funny! The things that come out of their mouths!

Anyways, it’s nice to be back to my normal schedule, my own bed, and the zoo. But, I do miss the beach!

So, like I said, I will post vacation pictures this week. There are a lot, so you have that to look forward to, hehe.

And, guess what {d&k} have to look forward to?! d’s bestest and her family are coming into town this weekend! We can.not wait!! There will be a lot of playing at the pool (come on, it’s 106 degrees right now…what else are we gonna do?!) and staying inside in the air conditioning. But, we will have a fantastic time…we always do!  Ooh, and there will be lots of good food eaten.  Yes, that’s right.  Eaten.

Thanks for being so patient with {d&k} while we took our break from reality and technology the last couple of weeks.

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Things you may have overheard this weekend…

This past weekend my parents (DW & B) and bestest were in town.  We had a blast.  The weekend was filled with food, fun, laughter, and more food.  Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten that much food in one weekend.  It is almost hard to walk.  I’ve got a little waddle going. Working out will be difficult with all this extra weight.  Damn you Dallas for having such great restaurants.  We did take our food groups seriously…we alternated between Mexican and burgers.  It was a lovely balance of cheese and carbs.  Ooh, and we through a little pizza in there too.  And wine.  Don’t forget about the wine.

If you were anywhere near the five of us this weekend, here’s what you may have overheard or seen…

* DW reenacting a building falling down and the noise could only mean the building fell on a pile of pillows.

* Passing Chuy’s Restaurant and DW immediately imitating Chewbaca.

* B being forced to sit in the corner of the sectional couch so she doesn’t fall off (after 1 margarita).

* B snorting when she laughs.  A lot.

* DW reading ALL of the billboards and signs while driving.  We now know where all of the Jack in the Box’s are in the D/FW area.

* DW changing the GPS to Mandarin.  Hilarious.  Hard to follow, but hilarious.

* K telling me that if I get caught stealing bamboo I can just tell the homeowners I’m “bi-panda“.

* Bestest screaming “Hey” in the middle of the restaurant.

* Recreating the “talking dog” video in the car.  And the rest of the weekend.  And yesterday after everyone left.

* Lots and lots of talking about the Duggar’s and whether or not the babies come out of Michelle via a tunnel slide.  And I’m not sure why we were talking about her being a bounce house?!  Anyone remember this?  This was all outside of a very tasty ice cream sandwich restaurant, with children around.  We keep things classy.

* B getting up in the middle of the night to snack on a Cadbury egg and DW catching her.

* Sebastian yarn-bombing the living room while we were gone.  He also fashioned a noose.  We could only assume it was for k.

* The awkward moment at a Mexican restaurant when we realized there were no menus.  And then the other awkward moment when we realized we ordered way too much food.

* DW, B, and K all getting out of the car after pizza and wine, while Bestest tries to get d out of the seatbelt in the backseat.  D was stuck.  It was not pretty.  When we finally got out and went inside, everyone asked why we were outside for so long.  Thanks for the help family.  Just wait until you are stuck in the backseat, being attacked by your seatbelt.  You can bet I won’t be there to help you out.  Thankyouverymuch.

* Acting like little kids in the aquarium.

* Only taking pictures of food and the animals at the aquarium.  Best blogger evah.

These were the only things I managed to take notes on in my phone.  And all of these happened over 2 days.  I’m sure there are many, many more things we did that I don’t remember.  DW, B, bestest…care to share what you remember?

I’m so happy my parents and bestest were in town over the weekend.  We really did have a great time, even though we all felt miserable at the end of the weekend due to all of the food we ate.  I can’t wait for them to come back and visit again!!

Next up, photos from the weekend.  Be prepared for lots of food and aquarium animals!!

Enjoy your day,
