Weekend recovery

Hi friends!

How was your weekend?

K was out-of-town for work, so it was just the zoo and me.  And, I had the privilege of coordinating another beautiful wedding here in Dallas on Saturday.  The bride and groom were wonderful and we all had a fantastic time.  However, I am still recovering from it.  This preggo can’t quite recover from 13 hours on her feet like she used to. (And 13 hours is a short wedding day).  Normally, I’d sleep in the Sunday after a wedding (and by sleep in, I mean like 8 or 9) and then I’d be good to go.  Well, I slept in until 8, then had to pick up the pups from the dog sitter, pick up K from the airport, and run a few errands.  I did take a small nap that afternoon, but it wasn’t the same.  It did not help.  So, I spent all day yesterday moping around, exhausted.  But, I think I may be back to my normal self today.  It’s still too early to tell.  Haha.

And, that was the extent of our weekend here.  K had a great trip and just as he’s back, I’m leaving this weekend.  Yep, that’s right.  I’m heading to Ohio/Michigan for a quick trip.  K got the bestest and me Matchbox Twenty tickets for Christmas and, since they are our favorite band, we are pumped to see them (again.  for like the 12th time.  but who’s counting.  I mean, come on…it’s Rob Thomas!  Eep).

I have a ton of things to do this week…including tracking down some sort of shirt that fits me.  Maternity clothes are so ugly.  Anyone else agree?  Seriously.  Why do these designers want us to look fat AND ugly?  I don’t get it.  And, since I’ve held off this long on buying any maternity shirts, my shirts are slowly getting too short and I have begun flashing everyone as I walk.  Or get up.  Or move in any slight way.  So, I’m on the hunt for something cute and cheap.  I am a bargain shopper.  I do not spend a lot of money on clothes.  I like my sale racks.  So, I refuse to spend $30 or more on an ugly maternity shirt that I am only going to wear for 4 more months.  Hrmph.

Wow, this post has turned very random.  Sorry about that.  It’s just been so long since I’ve posted and I, apparently, have a lot to say.

So, my to-do list for this week consists of:
spending time with K before I leave him this weekend
finding something decent to wear out of the house (yoga pants and K’s sweat shirts are only acceptable IN the house)
packing (which is going to be difficult since it is cold in Ohio and 70* here, and I don’t have a winter coat that fits)
and, there is a whole lot more, but these are the main things — wish me luck!

And, K and I are celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow (Yay!) with a nice dinner out to one of our favorite restaurants, Spaghetti Warehouse.  I cannot wait.  I love carbs even more now that I’m pregnant.  Yay carbs!  Nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” like carbs.  And candy.  K, did you hear that.  Candy.  No flowers.  I can’t eat flowers.

Well, I hope you are all having a lovely week.  And, I hope that you have all recovered nicely from the weekend!

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Yep, it’s that time again…

Time for another countdown!!!  Yippee!  This means {d&k} have exciting things coming up!

5 Days until I visit T in Phoenix (So this was super last minute…k got an email that Spirit Airlines was having a sale and that Phoenix was their featured city.  Well, conveniently T lives there and it’s been, oh, about a month since I’ve seen her (which is waaaayyyy too long) so k booked the flight for me.  For a round-trip, non-stop flight from Dallas to Phoenix it was….$60!  Are you kidding?!  So, look out Phoenix, here I come! (Well, in 5 days)

14 Days until Family Vacation in Outer Banks, North Carolina (I cannot wait to see everyone, especially my 2 nephews!  I will have plenty of stories and pictures…don’t you worry!)

27 Days until Bestest and her family are in Dallas (Again, it’s been a month since I’ve seen these guys and that’s waaaaayyyyy too long!)

39 Days until {d&k} are back in Ohio for a few days (d has a wedding to coordinate there and it’s my b-day, dun dun dun)

So, we have a ton of things to look forward to over the next 2 months.  We are so excited!  And, I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

What a weekend!

So….

Did you miss me?!  Yay!  I thought you might have.

Sorry I took a mini break.  But, no worries…I’m baaaaack!

The wedding this weekend was fantastic!  Everything went well and the bride and groom looked amazing.
See for yourself:

There were no catastrophes (which there usually are) and everyone had a great time.  The bride said to me at the end of the night that she was sad it went by so fast.  It’s true.  There is so much that happens during a wedding and you are pulled in so many directions that it is very hard to take a step back and really enjoy the moment.

It was a very, very long day for the Queen B and me.  (I’m not sure if I told you that the owner of Bee for the Day, Queen B, was coming in to help me with this wedding.  Queen B is an amazing wedding coordinator and a fantastic friend, so we had a great weekend!)

We didn’t end up getting home from the wedding reception until around 3:00am, and of course, we were wired from working all day that we didn’t go to bed until 4:00am.  Ugh.  I easily could have slept the entire next day.  But, I couldn’t.  We had some serious shopping to do!!  And we did, too!   I mean, come on…we totally deserved it.  We had a very successful 1st wedding in Dallas!

So, the wedding set-up, rehearsal, and actual day-of took up the majority of our weekend.  We did manage to find time for food, shopping, food, shopping, and more food.  Queen B found a little extra time to cuddle with the animals too.  And, she did assist Elvis in running into the screen door.  It was great!  Absolutely hilarious.  And, since k upgraded the screen to heavy-duty, Elvis didn’t go through it!  But, you know what was NOT hilarious?!  K didn’t get mad at Queen B.  He laughed.  Now, if that were me doing it (again), he would have yelled.  Whatevs K, whatevs.

So, that was our weekend.  I’m so happy the wedding went well and my first wedding with Bee for the Day – Dallas was a success!  I cannot wait to start booking more!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day,
{d&k}

Mini Break

Hello!  I just wanted to let you know that I am taking a mini break and will not be blogging the rest of this week, due to wedding prep and the actual wedding on Saturday.  I can’t wait to tell you all about it next week!

So, I’ll leave with this to remember be by (until next week, hehe):

Don’t judge my pugs’ “dirty” sleeping arrangement.  If any kids are reading, don’t look at the photo (parents, you may have some explaining to do)…

Enjoy your day,

Random Wednesday Funnies

Hi everyone!

I hope Wednesday is treating you well!  Happy Middle-Of-The-Week!!  Any big plans this weekend?  I have my first Dallas wedding and I’m so excited!!  I will fill you all in next week 🙂

On to the funnies….

So, I should probably give you a little background on The Llamas.  In college, there were 6 of us that lived together.  Our junior year we lived off-campus.  One night, 4 of 6 were walking across campus for a meeting of some sorts, when a group of guys walked past us and yelled, “Sexy Mamas!”  Right.  Ridiculous.  Well, being the nerdy girls that we were/are, we hear “sexy LLAMAS.”  So became the nickname of our little group.  The Llamas.  Whenever we had a party or friends were coming over, they would refer to our apartment as, The Llama Pad.  And, through the years, the name has stuck.  There are 3 Llamas that remain best llama friends and we, of course, still refer to ourselves as The Llamas.  And, our husbands also refer to us as The Llamas.  They, however, are not Llamas.  They are Llama husbands.  Huge difference here, folks.

Anyways, the Llama husbands think it’s funny to pick on us.  Here’s is a recent attempt:

So, now you know.  Llamas don’t punch back. They bite. Or pinch the back of your arms (ladies, if you do not know this trick, let me know.  I’ll teach you.   Best.weapon.evah).  And, if in the odd chance they do punch back, just nuzzle.  Not faint.  I got the studies mixed up.

I think Just Nuzzle should be Nike’s new slogan.  Hmmm.  I think I’m on to something here.  Not only does Google owe me royalties for having my brain, but Nike will have to pay me, as well, for coming up with their new slogan.  YES!  Ok, first I’m going to buy a shiba inu, then a yacht.  Next I’ll work on my own lake.  Lake Dani.  It has a great ring to it, no?

Happy Wednesday!  Enjoy your day!  Oh, and go buy some Nike’s 🙂

Apparently I’ve been MIA…

Hey there!  Apparently I’ve been a little MIA lately.  Sorry about that!  I have been super busy with Bee For The Day – Dallas...woohoo!  It’s been weddings, weddings, and more weddings over here.  {d&k} went to a huge (over 300 vendors!!) bridal show in downtown Dallas over the weekend and k was such a champ.  He was scoping out different bakeries and photographers for me, dropping off my card at booths, and of course, sampling the cake.  We have to know who has the best cake in Dallas.  The only way to find that out is to try them all.  That’s where k comes in!  K also enjoyed laughing at all of the goofy dj’s.  Some were dancing (and you know that’s what they do at weddings) and others were just plain odd.  They all, of course, had on their tuxedos with coordinating bow ties and vests, and in the most obnoxious-look-at-me-colors!  There was a haze surrounding all of their booths, most likely from the mix of cologne and hairspray, but one can only guess.

K was rewarded quite nicely for going to the bridal show with me…he went to a Mavs game that night and had a blast.  He even sang “Jessie’s Girl” in front on 20,000 fans.  I know.  I still have a hard time believing it, even with the help of the video posted on his Facebook page.  Go ahead, check it out.

Hmmm…let’s see…what else have we been up to?!  Well, the weather has been very nice here (Ohioans, you cannot be upset with me since it has been very nice there too…just sayin’!) so we’ve been spending a lot of time outside with the pups.  We visited a new dog park (our regular park was “closed due to standing water” from the monsoon) and we did not like it at all.  There were a few aggressive pups that we picking on dogs and the owners did nothing to stop it.  It was also very loud.  There were lots of dogs barking, which is very unlike a dog park.  I’m guessing they were upset by the aggressive pups too.  Anyways, we didn’t stick around long.  Plus, “Humpy” the labradoodle would not leave this poor German Shepard alone.  Elvis tried to break “it” up but did not have much success.  I scooped him up and took him to the opposite side of the park…there was no way I was letting my little man get involved with Humpy.  He’d get hurt.  Humpy was big!  So, needless to say, we will not be going back to that dog park.  We did overhear someone telling Humpy’s mom about our dog park.  Fingers (and tails) crossed he doesn’t show up there!

Sadly, I can’t think of anything else that’s been going on around here, aside from the fact that we’ve been busy.  And, my brain is a little mushy so I can’t even think of why we’ve been so busy.

As of right now, we have no plans this weekend (I know, can you believe it?!).  I know that will change, but for now it is nice to say we have no plans!  I will make sure I take lots of photos for you and document our weekend (whether we do something fun or not, hehe) to share with you all next week.

Enjoy your day,
{d&k}
