Fall, Fair, and Fried Everything!

Hi friends!  How was your weekend?  {d&k} had a fantastic weekend!!  And, lucky for you, I took lots of photos.  See, I’m always thinking about you!

So, let’s get on with the photo overload…

{d&k} went to a pumpkin patch to get a few pumpkins and to my surprise, they had a petting zoo!  YES!

A couple of longhorns. Except, their horns aren’t that long. Maybe they were babies?!

My new friend, sheep. He was very sweet and soft. I even made k pet him.

Some of our pumpkins!

After the pumpkin patch, we had lunch in Rockwall, overlooking the lake.

Next up, the state fair! Holy cow, this was the biggest fair I’ve ever been to. And, the amount of people there! Wow. They had anything and everything you could imagine…fried. For example, k tried a fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

I tried a few bites of it and it was amazing! I could not have eaten an entire sandwich like that, though. Too rich.

Then, we tried fried samoa girl scout cookies. Are you kidding? These are my favorite girl scout cookies!!

And, I had no idea we’d get 4 cookies! Bonus! These were delicious! However, I do not want any more fried food for at least 3 months.

The fair also had the best petting zoo I’ve ever been to. Yes, I’ve been to a ton. And, this was the second petting zoo in one day. Bonus! Here are just a few of the animals that we petted (and, I’m pretty sure I petted every single one of them).

Yep, that’s right….a baby giraffe!

Yep, that’s right….a kangaroo and 2 babies! I actually didn’t pet these guys. They didn’t seem to want to get up from posing for photos.

A zebra! More shocking is k petting a zebra! He won’t even touch my parent’s mini donkeys or horses. And, he just kept saying, “How cool is this!?” Go k, go!

There were baby goats galore! They were so, so cute. And, there were 2 very tiny guys that would have fit into my purse perfectly. K said no. But, he was okay smuggling out a zebra. Really, k?!

Look at that cute little baby llama! He was a feisty little thing and was running right into the other baby, trying to get him to play. When that didn’t work, he went to the pen next to his and had a stare down with a very large ostrich.

Look! K is feeding an alpaca! That fried pb&j must have made him feel invincible. He never gets that close to an animal’s mouth. Not even our own.

There were so many more animals I didn’t get pictures of. If you are ever in Texas during the state fair, you have to go. Just for the petting zoo. I mean, come on, is there anything better?!

Well, there you have it. That’s what we did last weekend. I hope you enjoyed the photos! Stayed tuned for another issue of Random Photos Found on my Phone and Oskar’s sleep habits.

Enjoy your day,

Over the weekend…

…We went with friends to Fort Worth for the Main Street Art Fest.
*We almost died due to G’s driving!
*G may have mentioned that we should have just rode our “big dog” instead of ride with her.
*That probably would have been a safer choice, hehe.

…I snapped a picture of k with a giant rooster.  That’s really nothing out of the ordinary, folks.

…We ate Cajun food for the first time.
*Ok, so I played it safe and ordered popcorn shrimp and fries (and now I’m working my tail off this week to make up for it).
*But, k ordered something I can’t pronounce and it did not look or smell all that appetizing, but he liked it.
*And, he may or may not have tried alligator as an appetizer.  He may or may not have been kissed by me later that night (I’ll
let you guess the correct answer on that one, ew.)

*Really?  Cat Basket?  Cat Platter?  How does that sound appetizing?  Poor cats!

…We may or may not have frozen our tails off at the art fest, after the sun went down.  What the pluck, Texas?!  I didn’t move here so you could get into the 50s at night.

…{d&k} did a lot of yard work and even planted flowers.

…Took a trip to the Farmer’s Market and had a blast!  We bought flowers, fruits & veggies, and even had lunch there.

* Apparently the theme for the weekend was Rooster!

* And, they sell sculpted shrubs…in either llama shape or Garfield.  Who knew?!  I think a llama shrub on either side of the front porch would look fantastical!  K thinks otherwise.  Whatevs, k.  You just don’t know style when you see it.

…We had a lazy Sunday night, consisting of eating take-out on the couch, playing goofy video games (in which my arm seriously hurts today), and watching stupidly funny movies (ie, Gnomeo & Juliet…watch it, it’s funny!)

…We took the pups to the dog park.
*Elvis wore himself and another pup out.  That pup’s owner came up to thank us.  Haha.
*Uma’s greyhound buddy, Polly Pocket, was there.  They had fun catching up (at least I assume they did).
*Oskar met another pug and insisted on sitting right next to him and confusing his owner.  That’s my pug!

Overall, we had a great weekend!  What did you do?

Enjoy your Monday,
{d&k}

PS — It is almost MAY!?!?  Where did April go?!?!?!

Random Wednesday Funnies

Hi everyone!

I hope Wednesday is treating you well!  Happy Middle-Of-The-Week!!  Any big plans this weekend?  I have my first Dallas wedding and I’m so excited!!  I will fill you all in next week 🙂

On to the funnies….

So, I should probably give you a little background on The Llamas.  In college, there were 6 of us that lived together.  Our junior year we lived off-campus.  One night, 4 of 6 were walking across campus for a meeting of some sorts, when a group of guys walked past us and yelled, “Sexy Mamas!”  Right.  Ridiculous.  Well, being the nerdy girls that we were/are, we hear “sexy LLAMAS.”  So became the nickname of our little group.  The Llamas.  Whenever we had a party or friends were coming over, they would refer to our apartment as, The Llama Pad.  And, through the years, the name has stuck.  There are 3 Llamas that remain best llama friends and we, of course, still refer to ourselves as The Llamas.  And, our husbands also refer to us as The Llamas.  They, however, are not Llamas.  They are Llama husbands.  Huge difference here, folks.

Anyways, the Llama husbands think it’s funny to pick on us.  Here’s is a recent attempt:

So, now you know.  Llamas don’t punch back. They bite. Or pinch the back of your arms (ladies, if you do not know this trick, let me know.  I’ll teach you.   Best.weapon.evah).  And, if in the odd chance they do punch back, just nuzzle.  Not faint.  I got the studies mixed up.

I think Just Nuzzle should be Nike’s new slogan.  Hmmm.  I think I’m on to something here.  Not only does Google owe me royalties for having my brain, but Nike will have to pay me, as well, for coming up with their new slogan.  YES!  Ok, first I’m going to buy a shiba inu, then a yacht.  Next I’ll work on my own lake.  Lake Dani.  It has a great ring to it, no?

Happy Wednesday!  Enjoy your day!  Oh, and go buy some Nike’s 🙂
