K’s Keepers, Valentine’s Day Edition

So, it’s been a long while since I’ve had a K’s Keepers post.  I’ve been really bad at taking photos of my meals.  Plus, I haven’t made anything really exciting since K’s wisdom teeth have come out and he’s been on soft foods.  But, I did make some Valentine’s Day treats for K’s office, so I thought I would share these with you.

Remember the Brownie Dipped Oreo recipe?  Well, I made a little change to it and it turned out to be a-maz-ing. Just trust me.  So, instead of using Oreos, I used Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.  Oh yeah!  You have to make these.

So, follow the same recipe as the Brownie Dipped Oreos, but substitute the Oreos for Reese’s PB Cups.  And, you can thank me later!

Next, I made chocolate chip cookies.  Oh, you don’t think that’s very Valentiney?  Well, I dyed them PINK.  How’s that for festive?!  It was really funny watching everyone’s reaction to the color.  At first, they didn’t want to eat them.  Who wouldn’t want to eat a pink cookie?  What is wrong with you people?  It’s two of my favorite things, combined into a little ball of yumminess.

Anyways, I’m not ready to share my chocolate chip cookie recipe with you guys just yet, so make up your own batch of cookies and, before you add in the flour and chocolate chips (or basically before the batter becomes too thick), add in your pink food coloring.  I use the gel food coloring because it gives a better color.  You can find this at your craft store.  I buy mine at Michaels.

The colors here look a little orange, but in person, they are bright pink.  The perfect Valentine’s Day pink, if I do say so.

Now, go bake yourself some pink chocolate chip cookies and some brownie dipped Reese’s Cups, and thank me later.  Note: I will not be held responsible for your weight gain.  It will happen.  This is just a fair warning.

Enjoy your cookies,

I think it’s time for another countdown!

Yes, that’s right.  It has been way too long since our last countdown.  Here is what {d&k} are looking forward to:

12 days until Christmas (I feel a song coming on)

13 days until we are back in Ohio/Michigan to visit with family and friends (I’m sure I can think of a song for this too)

And, that’s it.  Now it seems pretty uneventful.  Only two things made the countdown.  Now, I could have given you our schedule of events while we are in Ohio and Michigan but I think that’s probably more information that you’re here looking for.  Am I right?!  So, we’ll leave it at that pitiful little countdown.

But yay for only 12 days until Christmas!  Seriously, where has the time gone?  Thankfully I’m finished with my Christmas shopping.  Now, all we have left is to ship a few things off.  Ooh, and make Christmas cookies.  That’s this weekends project.  Get excited for pictures.  And pack.  We’ll have to pack sometime soon.  But, then we are done and we get to enjoy our first Christmas together as a family (of 3, sort of).  Yay! We have a few Christmas traditions we’ve started over the years and I’m excited to add to those.  Yay for Christmas!

Yay for Christmas!!

Enjoy your day,

{d&k} Style Easter

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.  {d&k} did!

This was our first holiday together.  Just us.  No running from one family to another.  No stuffing ourselves to the max and then having to do it all over again, 2 hours later.  No leaving early from one house to make it to the next…not too late.  No rushing through family time.  No leaving the pups all day.  No stressing.

I’m not going to lie…It was fantastical!  We slept in (until 9am, people!).  We went to a lovely mass at church.  We came home and made some lunch – quesadillas.  (We decided every holiday must consist of some form of Mexican food).  Then we watched a movie and lounged on the couch the rest of the afternoon.  The pugs were even allowed on the couch for a cuddle, since it was Easter and all.  I made cookies while k played video games.  More lounging.  Then around 7pm, we made dinner together.  After dinner, we watched yet another movie and had more pug cuddles on the couch.  I would say that was one of the best and most relaxing holidays we’ve ever had.  Now, don’t get me wrong…we missed spending time with our families.  But it was very nice to be together for a holiday.  Just {d&k}.  We’ll remember this forever.  Probably because it will never happen again.  But, I highly recommend it at some point in your lives.

How was your Easter?

Enjoy your day,
